ALL THE BEST IN THE WORLD FOR MY CHILD

"I am so proud of my Emily" This thought keeps up to my mind whenever I look at her still sleeping every morning I wake up, every time I kiss her, every time I hug her, and every time we do things together.

Emily was born January 26, 2007 at exactly 7:01 in the evening via normal delivery at the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center. Since then I never wanted anything but to give out my best for this little girl that God has given me.

On her way to growing up as a toddler, she was introduced to watching TV and then I noticed that she has been watching for so long in a day. And so I thought, I have to do something about it or else my little one might grew up being a lazy "couch potato". Early school comes to my mind.

THE RUNNING MOMMY

I have been into running lately and I found it addictive. Though I wasn't really under going any training on running, and I wasn't that super fast runner, I still managed to finish every race that I got myself into.

I have posted my first two running event before. The first one is the Kerygma fun run and The Red Cross Run for Humanity race where both I ran 5 Kilometers.

I have also ran for the Ilog Pasig last 10.10.10 but only for 3 Kilometers and I wasn't able to blog about it for some reasons. Lol! But heres my picture on that run

Last month, November 21, 2010, I joined the leg 3 of Runrio Trilogy and registered at the 15K category! I was supposed to be on the 5K only but the time we registered, theres no more slot for 5K so I was "forced" to join friends on 15K.

MY LOST LUNCHBOX

My husband saw this commercial on TV and then made a video of Emily immitating Xyriel in this commercial. Emily hasn't seen this TV ad yet even on youtube so she wasn't able to perform it well yet ( i think!). I first saw Emilys vid here on our videocam clueless of what she is talking about until hubby showed me this vid on youtube. And so I thought, my daughter did a good job! Anyways, I am inviting you all to join this event on Sunday, September 12, 2010. It will be held at SM MOA, SM Cebu and SM Davao. Me and Emily are gonna be in SM MOA right after we attended the Kerygma Feast in PICC.

There is an online registration but first you have to like My Lost Lunch Box on FaceBook then register on the My Lost Lunch Box TAB. There is also a contest of submitting your photo with your lunchbox on their FaceBook Page and I am definitely gonna join. Its 9AM here in the Philippines as I am writing this and Emily is still sleeping. Will take the photoshoot of her with her lunchbox later.

BLOGGERS, LET'S GET INTO THE GREEN SCENE

Do you feel guilty about what is happening in our Earth today? Like are you guilty of the drought that is happening nowadays? Dams are still on their critical level and there are still places who suffer of dirty water from their pipes and to others, no water at all. Do you feel guilty of the landslides that are always on the news specifically on mountain roads going to Baguio? Don't you think you are somehow the reason why electric bills are going up as well as why oil price hike and the hurricanes and tornadoes happening around?

I am.

In my little ways, I know I am responsible of all of this. Every time I charged my laptop or open a desktop computer, Every time I watch TV and surf the net. Every flush, every bath, every brush.

Do you feel the same way?

COMPARISONITIS

Are you infected with "comparisonitis"?

It is mainly a term of comparing yourself to others, comparing someone with others, comparing ones work or your work with others. Its a deadly illness that will eat out all the self esteem in you.

Comparisonitis make you feel stressed, worthless and depressed. If you are up to something good and you saw someone did it already, it will make you stop and do nothing at all. A negative emotion. A vampire that will suck out all the confidence left. You never give chance to develop your talent, your gifts to be used because your brains are eaten by this virus.

Is there a cure?

Yes of course! STOP COMPARING! Easy huh? Just kidding.

It will all start by being grateful. Be grateful of what you are and what you have. Its not like being yourself but its about accepting yourself. Theres nothing wrong with you. You are perfectly fine, Try to be more thankful with everything around you. (Oh, thank you for reading this article! ^_^) . Gratefulness is the entrance of positive things to come in your life. It is the antibiotic for comparisonitis.

View it in a different perspective like instead of comparing your work with others and with your work being less, try to thank the person with whom you compare your work with because you learned something from it. Be thankful of the new knowledge that you could get from those who work better than you.

I believe all of us are unique in our own little ways. Comparisonitis should be killed. Maintain being positive with yourself.

If you are poor, stop comparing with the rich. Learn their ways and work harder to become rich! Be thankful you are poor because when you get rich by working harder, you become compassionate with poor people and you can inspire them with your hard work.

Inspire. Inspiration. This should be the view of comparing. It should make your life more exciting and do more.

Life is so short to waste time with all these negative influences. Enjoy it, savor it, be grateful and in the end we will become peaceful, satisfied and successfull...

I RAN FOR HUMANITY

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Pasay City Chapter will take the lead in this year’s commemoration of the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) day with the theme “Geneva Conventions: Compassion Amidst Armed Conflict”, which aims to increase awareness on the basic principles of IHL and promote its observance in times of armed conflict.

The IHL is a set of rules which place restrictions on the use of weapons and methods of warfare. It protects people who are not, or no longer, participating in hostilities.

One of the events for this year’s celebration is the Run for Humanity where a hundreds to thousands of PRC supporters from the youth sector, 143 volunteers, local government units, NGOs and the general public will gather to participate in the said run.

“The IHL Day is observed every August 12 of each year. It is a time to review of what needs to be done to revive humanitarian law and the world’s faith in its long-lasting values. Every year, we are organizing a Walk for Humanity to raise public awareness on IHL. But this year, through the efforts of Red Cross Pasay City Chapter, we are conducting a Run for Humanity,” said PRC Chairman Richard Gordon

SOURCE

This event was held last Sunday, August 15, 2010 and I registered to run a 5 kilometer race. Since I was drunk the night before because of my sisters birthday party, I was late in the event. So late that while I was still inside the taxi cab looking for the starting lane, the runners are already running along Diosdado Macapagal, that I already laughed at myself and told the driver to bring me to the Finish lane already!

I am with my friend Mich who registered for a 10 kilommeter race (who is also late like me haha!). We ran with the 3k reistrants hoping to catch up with the 5k and 10k runners (which is quite impossible already).

So we just enjoyed the lateness and started running-walking-running phase. Here is our only shot together because I brought my camera with me:

So while doing the running-walking phase, we saw some crowds of people taking pictures with a guy whic we cannot see because of the number of people sorrounding him. When we got there we saw Chairman Richard Gordon. So we took a picture with him also.

And since Mich is registered to a 10k run, I told her to go and leave me because shes got a long way to run. I took some shots though when I reached the 5k turn, the sponsor Pocari Sweat which is my first time to try. When I reached the finish line just by walking and a bit of running (haha!) The organizers gave me my certificate already. I think I finished the 5k in about... an hour!!! hahah!

Life saver in every run

I am so half way there!

Im Done!

Tired shoes?

Wohoo!!!

Mich is planning to join a run every month and I am thinking of joining her. I may not be living a healthy life, but I am definitely in for this running lifestyle. Figaro run is the next in line for next month. We haven't registered yet, but Im still running for 5k... or maybe 10k.. hmmm...

MY HAPPY WEEKEND

I had a blast this past Saturday and Sunday. I must say sorry for my EC droppers and Adgitizers that I wasn't able to visit your sites.

Saturday was my little sisters 21st birthday. So I went back to my hometown in Bicutan with Emily and Ashly (hubby refused to come so..) to have a sleepover and have fun with my family. I have lots of pictures to share but I uess I just have to make another post for it. Including the stories behind it and some updates about my family.

Sunday, I joined a Run for Humanity by Philippine Red Cross. I registered into a 5kilometer run with my friend mich who registered in a 10kilometer run (Whoa!). So yeah, my limbs are kinda sore as of this moment because I stopped going to the gym in a month.

After the race, we went directly to the Feast at the PICC. My Sunday date with God (In a running outfit). Its good to attend to the Feast this week because I wasn't able to come also in the last two Sundays for some reasons. So this is just a brief introduction of the three posts that I will cook for this week because I am so excited to share my weekend story because I really had fun!

So, I f you haven't subscribed, please do so now because I have something interesting to share this week and I hope I could share it with you...

Have a Great Day!

DO YOU KNOW WHY I BECAME A PILOT?

"Amelia Earhart: Do you know why I became a pilot?

Larry Daley: I have no idea.

Amelia Earhart: For the fun of it. Why else would anyone do anything? "

-from the movie "Midnight at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian"

I just watched this movie several weeks ago on cable and this lines struck me so much.

For the fun of it. Why else would anyone do anything?

It made me think of how my blogging has been going on since I started it.

Couple of years ago, we used to own an internet cafe and all I did was online gaming, watch videos on youtube, friendster and yahoo messenger. Though I've already heard of other people earning online through having their own website. I never had the motivation to learn it. I have so much time then. Im single, no kids, no boss, no pressure, no rush...

Fast forward, maybe I got bored somehow, maybe I got pressured by the fact that I am now married, with two kids, with no work, and with a very blurry future plans.

But theres only one thing that I managed to challenge myself and make sure to make something out of it - Blogging.

It was only December 2009 that I first started blogging. But since I was new to this thing, I was never satisfied with my blogs that I don't even know what to blog about. I've started a few blogs and then deleted them afterwards.

My first reason why I want to blog is to earn online. I heard about how some people earn through advertisements and PTC sites. I've also learned lots of affiliate programs that would really generate an income if you give your attention to it.

I started Pinay Mom Journal March2010. I aim to share my everyday life as a newbie blogger, mother, housewife and an entrepreneur. Sometimes I have so much energy to blog that I could fill up a whole month of scheduled post for this blog. But there are also times that I feel so lazy to write but just read others blogs.

It is only recently that I started to put on shoutmix on my blog and appreciated people who leave messages for me. I learned to leave messages also and so as commenting on blog posts. I do comments on facebook photos and statuses though. But it is only now that I realize the importance of interacting with your readers/visitors.

Blog hopping really worked for me to realize this all. I learned a lot and I aim to learn some more about blogging through it.

It is indeed fun and I do this blogging thing for the fun of it, why else would anyone do anything. Right?

Happy Weekends!

I love my FIRST COMMENTER!

FULLHOUSE

Every Sunday, I am supposed to go to PICC to attend The Kerygma Feast. But today, I wasn't able to go. So Mich, my feast buddy went there alone and I so feel guilty of not going with her today and celebrate with her the happy weekend we got from yesterdays reunion with our high school batch mates. Will tell about this reunion on my other posts because in this posts, is about what is happening to my today. Yes, today as of this moment. I captured how I looked while writing this post.

Yup, I am blogging while Ashly is beside me, playing with her rattle/teether. Nanny went out for a day off so I am the one who is with Ashly today. Since this is also an opportunity for me to make blogs because Ashly is being a good girl for not crying when you put her to bed busy playing and kicking and making sounds with her rattle. I am now gonna be able to put more scheduled posts for the month of August wee!!!

Since we got a nanny for Ashly, I am guilty of not having enough time for her. I am always at our variety store selling. Though my laptop is still with me so that I can somehow drop some ECs or read some other blogs whenever there is no customers buying. I couldn't manage to carry Ashly for a few minutes while selling because shes getting heavier now and it is really hard to sell when only one of your hands is working because the other one is holding a baby.

My bonding time with Ashly in a day is about 6AM to 8AM. I make sure that I am the first person she see when she wakes up and I play with her in these times and then pass her to her nanny afterwards. 8AM - 10AM I am here in front of my laptop checking emails, chatting on facebook and checking my websites. 10AM on a weekdays I will start selling in the store, prepare Emily to school, when Nhil wakes up at 11AM, sends Emily to school at 12NN and go back to the store again at 1PM to 3:30PM where I am going to pick up Emily from school at 4PM. Hahaha! Im talking about my daily schedule now and not knowing it.

So yeah, today I am a fulltime mom. I am not in the store. I am here with Ashly and Emily (who just woke up from her afternoon nap time). I am loving today. Loving these moments where my two kids are here with me in our bedroom. Emily is now singing to her sister. While I am here listening to her lovely voice and telling the world how I am enjoying this moment with them.

Happy Sunday everyone!

DREAM

"To dream that you are driving a car, denotes your ambition, your drive and your ability to navigate fromone stage of your life to another. Consider how smooth or rough the car ride is. If you are driving the car, then you are taking an active role in the way your life is going. However, if you are the passenger, then you are taking a passive role. If you are in the backseat of the car, then it indicates that you are putting yourself down and are allowing others to take over. This may be a result of low self-esteem or low self-confidence.  Overall, this dream symbol is an indication of your dependence and degree of control you have on your life."

       -from http://www.dreammoods.com/dreamdictionary/c.htm

I had a dream, and it goes like, my husband is the one driving and I am on the backseat. According to this interpretation I got on the internet, I am taking a passive role here. But if it means low self esteem and low self confidence, i think i must do something about it.

It made me realize that sometimes or most of the time, I really have this low confidence in me. I dont trust myself. Fear of losing the battle. Fear of trying. Fear of doing something. Instead, I just let others to decide, let others take me and allow others to manipulate my life. More often, decisions isn't on me. I let others decide...

REFORMATTING

This site will be under construction for about a few days. I will be reformatting its layout for a better look. Few ads will be added and deleted as well.

I even thought of abandoning this, but I can't. This is my first ever loved mommy site where i am the main subject.

I have been into a lot of things lately and I am not making any excuses here. I know I've been lazy for almost two months now. A lot of things have happened that I wasn't able to share. Emily is back to school, Ashly got sick a few weeks ago because of diarrhea and got her admitted in the hospital for two days.

A week after Ashlys discharge from the hospital, Emily got a fever and cough and colds. I'm so stressed out for almost a month. And did I tell you that Nhil got sick after Emily? My time in the store was extended and even though I can still brin my laptop in the store, I can't write properly with all the distractions. I can't do blogging while selling in a variety store.

I also started an online business where I sell Prepaid load credits online. I started with a multiply site then having a hosted website for it. This is the one that goes out well. As a matter of fact, I have a giveaway ongoing on this website. So please do check it out coz you might win this cool prize of Php1000 worth of prepaid load of your choice.

I haven't blogged about our weekend getaway after Richard's wedding.

I also plan to blog about our day today in Antipolo Church.

Green articles is also part of my brainstorming of what else to blog about.

I will also put the category lists properly because I now intend to put food blogs on this website where I get to review some foods that I like and I don't like hehehe.

So, thats pretty much for now. A sneak peak on whats cooking here on Pinay Mom Journal.

And oh, have you seen my new super gorgeous profile pic on facebook? hahaha! I once tried to become a camwhore with this power dress I am wearing so... Heres a teaser for you...

RICHARD AND MALOU WEDDING

Richard Tuazon and Malou Agcopra's Big Day!

My husband Nhil and I with Emily and Ashly packed up and left Manila at about 7:00AM. Took a two-hour drive before we reached the Tagaytay proper where we first searched for the Wedding Church before we looked for some place where we can stay the night.

Emily is one of the flower girls and I am so proud that she walked perfectly down the isle. She behaved well and smiled at every camera pointed at her. My Emily is now getting bigger. Shes becomeing more beautiful each day. Even more fragile.  Just wanna share this picture of her walking down the isle and striking a pose for a camera.

And here are the wedding couple together with Emily during the pictorial after the wedding rites.

The Wacky Family that I Love so much. Us at the photo booth.

ACTIVE LIFESTYLE DAY 3

Third day of going to the gym. My muscles are still hurting, but Im feeling something already. I am feeling energized everyday.

I sleep soundly and I wake up early. I also become conscious with the food that I eat. I tried to eat just a banana for my supper and I am so fine.

I also started to drink milk and make myself busy everyday.

ACTIVE LIFESTYLE

I enrolled in a gym nearby our house. I decided to get fit and be in shape and have a healthy body. I never liked my figure since I was a child. I was always conscious that someone might laugh at me if I don't look good and see the flabs on my tummy.

My first day is fun. The gym instructor assisted me and put me on a 20minute aerocycle. Quite hard but I managed to finish the 20min with my legs tired and my heartbeat is extremely fast.

He taught me the stretchy moves, introduced me on some equipments . Overall I enjoyed it. That afternoon, my muscles started to hurt.

A LOVE LETTER

I made a love letter for my husband six months ago and kept it. I never showed it to him definitely because of  few things like I am shy to give it to him or he might find it too corny and just laugh at it, and I myself find it really corny to write a love letter for my husband. I mean its not a casual thing for us. Its not as casual as arguing against each other though. But really, I don't know what I was thinking six months ago while writing that letter.

I could still remember when I planned to write that letter. I have this ready made scrapbook for sweethearts that I bought in a bookstore. It is filled with cheesy blank details that you need to fill up about you and your partner. Its got a lot of mushy poems and lots of spaces provided for different pictures from different places or occasions that you two have been together. Its really romantic for romantic couples and very corny for in denial couples (like us!).

What happened is that, I tear off every page of this scrapbook because I cannot finish it anymore. I won't be able to handle a situation when somebody would read it and then tease me with all the cheesiness of this scrapbook.I threw all those pages that I already used/answered with a lot of corny moments haha!

I just found this one page where I read a poem that I think we could relate to and what I did is that, I wrote a love letter for my husband at the back of this poem and then kept it for six months.

Until last night, that I gave this letter to him as my fathers day gift for him. Just want to share with you the poem (no, not the letter! haha!) that is written on this page:

"When Our Love Was Put To The Test"
Ellen Brenneman

We've had our ups and downs,
but through it all,
I've never stopped loving you.
I never could.
That's because the very things
that made me love you in the beginning
will always make me love you...
in fact, some of the biggest differences we've had
are the things that drew us together.
That must be because we need each other...
and not just in a romantic way,
but in every way that's possible
for two people to be close and to care.
I just want to say that even though
we've had some tough times,
I love you...
that will never change.

DISCIPLINE WITHOUT SHOUTING OR SPANKING

Emily is now three years and 5 months old. The age of her naughtiness and some bad behaviors are showing up. Well, as a mom, I need to do something with her misbehaviors without hurting her in any way.

As a child, I admit that I grew up with a father who spanks me every time I commit a mistake and that did not do anything good on me but be scared to all the fathers in the world. I always had a thinking that fathers are bad and that all of them are capable of hurting you. Good thing that as I grew up, I learn about forgiveness and let go of the grudge I have been holding against the fathers of the world.

I don't want that to happen on my kids. I know I could be capable of hurting because that is how I grew up but I really must do something to prevent it.

When Emily is on her baddest I tend to breathe deeply and then tell my husband that my patience is already on its end and please get Emily out of my sight so that I could control my feelings when I get mad.

Theres also this one book that I got and I am so happy with it and I want to share it to my readers. This book is very helpful for very impatient or not so patient moms/parents like me. The Discipline Without Shouting or Spanking: Practical Solutions to the Most Common Preschool Behavior Problems. As I read the book, I realized that there are really other ways of training your kids and making their bad behaviors turn into a more positive attitude.

This book is really awesome and I would like to thank the authors Jerry Wyvkoff, Ph.D. and Barbara C. Unell for creating it. The approach are very simple yet effective. I tried several methods already and it reall works for me and Emily. Makes more of our quality time together.

I am so thankful that I found a way on working this out earlier so I wouldn't miss any moment of joy and quaity time with my daughter.

To share a little preview and make you think that really need this book, here are some problem behaviors common to preschoolers that can be solved by following the methods form this book:

  • Aggressive behavior
  • Behaving hyly
  • Being a couch potato (my emily is like this before but not anymore...)
  • Destroying property
  • "Hyper" activity
  • Interacting with strangers
  • Jealousy
  • Lying
  • Messiness
  • Not Sharing (the not so cool attitude for me)
  • Resisting Bed Time
  • Wandering away in public
  • Whining
  • AND A WHOLE LOT MORE...
So grab a copy of this book now and believe me the Discipline Without Shouting or Spanking: Practical Solutions to the Most Common Preschool Behavior Problems ebook will really change your life as a mom or as a pre school teacher as well.

This book is very cheap for a lot of things to learn and a lot of things to enjoy with your pre schoolers. I really recommend this to all the parents. My husband is not a book reader so I just teach him what to do now following this book when he is the one having a hard time dealing with Emilys behavior sometimes haha!
