MY HAPPY WEEKEND

I had a blast this past Saturday and Sunday. I must say sorry for my EC droppers and Adgitizers that I wasn't able to visit your sites.

Saturday was my little sisters 21st birthday. So I went back to my hometown in Bicutan with Emily and Ashly (hubby refused to come so..) to have a sleepover and have fun with my family. I have lots of pictures to share but I uess I just have to make another post for it. Including the stories behind it and some updates about my family.

Sunday, I joined a Run for Humanity by Philippine Red Cross. I registered into a 5kilometer run with my friend mich who registered in a 10kilometer run (Whoa!). So yeah, my limbs are kinda sore as of this moment because I stopped going to the gym in a month.

After the race, we went directly to the Feast at the PICC. My Sunday date with God (In a running outfit). Its good to attend to the Feast this week because I wasn't able to come also in the last two Sundays for some reasons. So this is just a brief introduction of the three posts that I will cook for this week because I am so excited to share my weekend story because I really had fun!

So, I f you haven't subscribed, please do so now because I have something interesting to share this week and I hope I could share it with you...

Have a Great Day!

DO YOU KNOW WHY I BECAME A PILOT?

"Amelia Earhart: Do you know why I became a pilot?

Larry Daley: I have no idea.

Amelia Earhart: For the fun of it. Why else would anyone do anything? "

-from the movie "Midnight at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian"

I just watched this movie several weeks ago on cable and this lines struck me so much.

For the fun of it. Why else would anyone do anything?

It made me think of how my blogging has been going on since I started it.

Couple of years ago, we used to own an internet cafe and all I did was online gaming, watch videos on youtube, friendster and yahoo messenger. Though I've already heard of other people earning online through having their own website. I never had the motivation to learn it. I have so much time then. Im single, no kids, no boss, no pressure, no rush...

Fast forward, maybe I got bored somehow, maybe I got pressured by the fact that I am now married, with two kids, with no work, and with a very blurry future plans.

But theres only one thing that I managed to challenge myself and make sure to make something out of it - Blogging.

It was only December 2009 that I first started blogging. But since I was new to this thing, I was never satisfied with my blogs that I don't even know what to blog about. I've started a few blogs and then deleted them afterwards.

My first reason why I want to blog is to earn online. I heard about how some people earn through advertisements and PTC sites. I've also learned lots of affiliate programs that would really generate an income if you give your attention to it.

I started Pinay Mom Journal March2010. I aim to share my everyday life as a newbie blogger, mother, housewife and an entrepreneur. Sometimes I have so much energy to blog that I could fill up a whole month of scheduled post for this blog. But there are also times that I feel so lazy to write but just read others blogs.

It is only recently that I started to put on shoutmix on my blog and appreciated people who leave messages for me. I learned to leave messages also and so as commenting on blog posts. I do comments on facebook photos and statuses though. But it is only now that I realize the importance of interacting with your readers/visitors.

Blog hopping really worked for me to realize this all. I learned a lot and I aim to learn some more about blogging through it.

It is indeed fun and I do this blogging thing for the fun of it, why else would anyone do anything. Right?

Happy Weekends!

I love my FIRST COMMENTER!

REFORMATTING

This site will be under construction for about a few days. I will be reformatting its layout for a better look. Few ads will be added and deleted as well.

I even thought of abandoning this, but I can't. This is my first ever loved mommy site where i am the main subject.

I have been into a lot of things lately and I am not making any excuses here. I know I've been lazy for almost two months now. A lot of things have happened that I wasn't able to share. Emily is back to school, Ashly got sick a few weeks ago because of diarrhea and got her admitted in the hospital for two days.

A week after Ashlys discharge from the hospital, Emily got a fever and cough and colds. I'm so stressed out for almost a month. And did I tell you that Nhil got sick after Emily? My time in the store was extended and even though I can still brin my laptop in the store, I can't write properly with all the distractions. I can't do blogging while selling in a variety store.

I also started an online business where I sell Prepaid load credits online. I started with a multiply site then having a hosted website for it. This is the one that goes out well. As a matter of fact, I have a giveaway ongoing on this website. So please do check it out coz you might win this cool prize of Php1000 worth of prepaid load of your choice.

I haven't blogged about our weekend getaway after Richard's wedding.

I also plan to blog about our day today in Antipolo Church.

Green articles is also part of my brainstorming of what else to blog about.

I will also put the category lists properly because I now intend to put food blogs on this website where I get to review some foods that I like and I don't like hehehe.

So, thats pretty much for now. A sneak peak on whats cooking here on Pinay Mom Journal.

And oh, have you seen my new super gorgeous profile pic on facebook? hahaha! I once tried to become a camwhore with this power dress I am wearing so... Heres a teaser for you...

RICHARD AND MALOU WEDDING

Richard Tuazon and Malou Agcopra's Big Day!

My husband Nhil and I with Emily and Ashly packed up and left Manila at about 7:00AM. Took a two-hour drive before we reached the Tagaytay proper where we first searched for the Wedding Church before we looked for some place where we can stay the night.

Emily is one of the flower girls and I am so proud that she walked perfectly down the isle. She behaved well and smiled at every camera pointed at her. My Emily is now getting bigger. Shes becomeing more beautiful each day. Even more fragile.  Just wanna share this picture of her walking down the isle and striking a pose for a camera.

And here are the wedding couple together with Emily during the pictorial after the wedding rites.

ACTIVE LIFESTYLE DAY 3

Third day of going to the gym. My muscles are still hurting, but Im feeling something already. I am feeling energized everyday.

I sleep soundly and I wake up early. I also become conscious with the food that I eat. I tried to eat just a banana for my supper and I am so fine.

I also started to drink milk and make myself busy everyday.

ACTIVE LIFESTYLE

I enrolled in a gym nearby our house. I decided to get fit and be in shape and have a healthy body. I never liked my figure since I was a child. I was always conscious that someone might laugh at me if I don't look good and see the flabs on my tummy.

My first day is fun. The gym instructor assisted me and put me on a 20minute aerocycle. Quite hard but I managed to finish the 20min with my legs tired and my heartbeat is extremely fast.

He taught me the stretchy moves, introduced me on some equipments . Overall I enjoyed it. That afternoon, my muscles started to hurt.

A LOVE LETTER

I made a love letter for my husband six months ago and kept it. I never showed it to him definitely because of  few things like I am shy to give it to him or he might find it too corny and just laugh at it, and I myself find it really corny to write a love letter for my husband. I mean its not a casual thing for us. Its not as casual as arguing against each other though. But really, I don't know what I was thinking six months ago while writing that letter.

I could still remember when I planned to write that letter. I have this ready made scrapbook for sweethearts that I bought in a bookstore. It is filled with cheesy blank details that you need to fill up about you and your partner. Its got a lot of mushy poems and lots of spaces provided for different pictures from different places or occasions that you two have been together. Its really romantic for romantic couples and very corny for in denial couples (like us!).

What happened is that, I tear off every page of this scrapbook because I cannot finish it anymore. I won't be able to handle a situation when somebody would read it and then tease me with all the cheesiness of this scrapbook.I threw all those pages that I already used/answered with a lot of corny moments haha!

I just found this one page where I read a poem that I think we could relate to and what I did is that, I wrote a love letter for my husband at the back of this poem and then kept it for six months.

Until last night, that I gave this letter to him as my fathers day gift for him. Just want to share with you the poem (no, not the letter! haha!) that is written on this page:

"When Our Love Was Put To The Test"
Ellen Brenneman

We've had our ups and downs,
but through it all,
I've never stopped loving you.
I never could.
That's because the very things
that made me love you in the beginning
will always make me love you...
in fact, some of the biggest differences we've had
are the things that drew us together.
That must be because we need each other...
and not just in a romantic way,
but in every way that's possible
for two people to be close and to care.
I just want to say that even though
we've had some tough times,
I love you...
that will never change.

DISCIPLINE WITHOUT SHOUTING OR SPANKING

Emily is now three years and 5 months old. The age of her naughtiness and some bad behaviors are showing up. Well, as a mom, I need to do something with her misbehaviors without hurting her in any way.

As a child, I admit that I grew up with a father who spanks me every time I commit a mistake and that did not do anything good on me but be scared to all the fathers in the world. I always had a thinking that fathers are bad and that all of them are capable of hurting you. Good thing that as I grew up, I learn about forgiveness and let go of the grudge I have been holding against the fathers of the world.

I don't want that to happen on my kids. I know I could be capable of hurting because that is how I grew up but I really must do something to prevent it.

When Emily is on her baddest I tend to breathe deeply and then tell my husband that my patience is already on its end and please get Emily out of my sight so that I could control my feelings when I get mad.

Theres also this one book that I got and I am so happy with it and I want to share it to my readers. This book is very helpful for very impatient or not so patient moms/parents like me. The Discipline Without Shouting or Spanking: Practical Solutions to the Most Common Preschool Behavior Problems. As I read the book, I realized that there are really other ways of training your kids and making their bad behaviors turn into a more positive attitude.

This book is really awesome and I would like to thank the authors Jerry Wyvkoff, Ph.D. and Barbara C. Unell for creating it. The approach are very simple yet effective. I tried several methods already and it reall works for me and Emily. Makes more of our quality time together.

I am so thankful that I found a way on working this out earlier so I wouldn't miss any moment of joy and quaity time with my daughter.

To share a little preview and make you think that really need this book, here are some problem behaviors common to preschoolers that can be solved by following the methods form this book:

  • Aggressive behavior
  • Behaving hyly
  • Being a couch potato (my emily is like this before but not anymore...)
  • Destroying property
  • "Hyper" activity
  • Interacting with strangers
  • Jealousy
  • Lying
  • Messiness
  • Not Sharing (the not so cool attitude for me)
  • Resisting Bed Time
  • Wandering away in public
  • Whining
  • AND A WHOLE LOT MORE...
So grab a copy of this book now and believe me the Discipline Without Shouting or Spanking: Practical Solutions to the Most Common Preschool Behavior Problems ebook will really change your life as a mom or as a pre school teacher as well.

This book is very cheap for a lot of things to learn and a lot of things to enjoy with your pre schoolers. I really recommend this to all the parents. My husband is not a book reader so I just teach him what to do now following this book when he is the one having a hard time dealing with Emilys behavior sometimes haha!

MY KERYGMA FUN RUN EXPERIENCE

So the waiting is over. The day has finally come. May 29 of 2010. The Kerygma Fun Run at the Mall of Asia. The Run a Kilometer for Kerygma. The Run the Race. The first ever Fun Run Activity of my favorite community.

My phone is set to alarm at 5:00 AM but my husband is much more excited to wake me up at 4:30. So I first texted my friend Mich to check if she is already awake and then rushed to the bathroom for a quick shower. I already wear my fun run shirt and a three-fourths six pocket pants because the shorts that I am about to wear is on Mich. I asked her to buy me a short and she will give it to me on the day of the race. She bought two and we have the same shorts to wear for this event. COOL!

My husband and I planned to bring my daughter Emily with us the night before the race but that morning he decided not to wake her up anymore and let her sleep. I am ready by 5:00AM and we left the house by 5:15AM. We arrived at the venue 5:30 and first saw this inflated slide (i dont know what to really call that) where childrens love to run around and jump around. Then we remembered Emily that she will enjoy this place if she was only here. The immediate thinking ran through our heads to pick up a taxi and went back to fetch Emily.

So then I found myself inside the taxi, rushing to our house (husband was left in the venue roaming around booths after booths). Emily is crying when I woke her up. Pick up all her things like jogging pants, t-shirts, a few towels, a pair of socks and a rubber shoes. I just changed her inside the taxi. She stopped crying when I told her that we are going to Bro. Bo. Her eyes became excited and said "Bro Bo?!! and Ninang Mich?!!" and I said Yeah!!!

We arrived at the venue 6AM and everyone was warming up already. Mich is already there with her former classmate Alvin. I wasn't able to wear my new shorts anymore because the line in the portable CR is very long and they are already arranging the line of the 5k runners, 3k runners and 1k runners. I am among the 5k runners. But luckily we were able to get some photos with Bro. Bo before the race because he is just standing right in front of us so we grabbed the opportunity to have some pictures with him.

Then the race began and we started walking.... Haha!!! No rush for the first prize. Hey I got no warm up! After a few blocks, then we ran. After running a block then we walk again for a few blocks... Thats our not so athletic routine. We just enjoyed the race laughing together, talking and talking. My husband has got a video of us three running.. will just upload it here later when Im done editing and converting it. We took the 5k race for almost an hour and very tired and sweaty when we reached the finish line.

We then hopped through every booth and took some pictures then settled at the photo booth line where we finally had a rest. But unfortunately, since my husband is very tired already, we went home instead of waiting in the long line of that photo booth. I am disappointed though but I am not mad. My husband is not registered in the race. He was just there to support me and that was very sweet of him. I really appreciate it when he said that he will come with me. So instead of making a fight with him by wanting to go home early, I thanked him for being with me in this event.

Here are some shots in this wonderful wonderful event and I aim to join this yearly fun run event of Kerygma.

Emily already know Bro. Bo. He usually call Bro. Bo as Bro Bo Papa Jesus (Hey I didn't teach her that.)

Bro. Bo to Emily - "Angu kyut kyut ng ilong mo."

Emily at the start of the race.

Yeah I did ran... and walked too!

Here is the best part of this event for me. A bonding time with my husband and Emily. This doesn't happen much. I am really really happy with this picture.

More pictures on my facebook account..

ASHLY'S CHRISTENING : FUN FUN FUN! FAIL FAIL FAIL!

The christening is scheduled at 11:00AM. When we arrived at the church, I was wondering why theres a wedding going on inside the church and its the schedule for my daughters christening. I didn't know that the church have this Baptistry room where all of the baptism was held and I dont have any idea where is it located in that church.

So I just sat there at the church carrying Ashly who is wearing her beautiful pink dress and talking with my friend Malou. Its ten minutes before 11AM and the wedding is still far from over that I saw my friend Leah one of the Godmothers walking at the left side of the church going somewhere. So I immediately stood up, followed her and called her. She said she thought she was late. I asked her where is she going, and she told me that the baptism area was on that side of the church.

So Yeah, Look at this picture. There is obviously a wedding going on because of that bridal car in front and there is the location of the Baptistry area.

Here is e and Ninang Leah talking to each other outside the baptistry

The Video inside the Baptistry

Here are some shots inside the baptistry area during the christening

The Baptism Rites took only for like ten minutes or less. Yeah that fast, because there were no more seminars like what I am used to when attending a Christening.

Here are the photos taken after the Baptism up to the reception.

Lolo Luis and Emily had this moment by the bay

Emily with Tito Ogie

I took this following shots. Played with the Nikon D5000 that is formerly mine.

The FUN FUN FUN
  • Primarily I am so happy that my daughter Asly was finally baptized. She's already a Christian and I pray that she would embrace this faith and love and serve our Creator the best way she can.
  • This is a very sacred sacrament to be celebrated with close friends and relatives.
  • I get to be with my old friends and I would like to thank them now for coming: my high school friends Tracy, Leah, Grace, Joi (with her husband Christopher and daughter CJ), Victor and his wife Maui with their beautiful daughters. My college friends Rosmar, Christine, Cristina, Randy, and Richard of course with fiance Malou. Raymond is also there with us and I also thank him for coming.
  • Seafood party! Tempura, Baked Mussels, Calamares, Lapulapu, Sinigang na Hipon
  • It is also good to be with my husbands relatives also. I thank them all for coming. We used to go to Bulacan for like once a month before. But now, we cannot do it anymore because we have no more time at all. The store is consuming all our time now and thank God for having a nanny for Ashly. Thank you to Tito Dading and Tita Joving for coming. Ronald and Grace with their sons Robbie and Ralph. Tita Nelia with Carol, Leet and Malou with kids JM and JP, Che with kids Vhin and Coleen, Eric with kids Fiona, Roy and Chloee their cousin AA with his wife is also there. Christian with cousin Alvin also came.
  • Mica Felipe, one of the beautiful ninangs is also there with her two bodyguards err... brothers Ige and Nano.
  • My Ate Susan with her daughter Tin also came. Marie the late ninang with friends Cris and Abi. My niece Liezl with boyfriend Robert.
  • Lolo Luis and Lola Sary with Larry.
  • Jeff, Nhils long time bestfriend and our bestman with his wife She.
  • Thank you all for coming!

THE FAIL FAIL FAIL
  • 5 minutes before the start of the Baptism, Emily whispered to Daddy "Daddy, I need to poop and pee now."
  • During the baptism, Nhil's cellphone beeped very loud, and the nerve of this Daddy, he replied to that message right in front of the Priest!!!
  • The baptism took only for ten minutes which is incredibly fast. Photographers got only a few shots and its done.
  • Since the baptism were that fast, most of the godfathers and godmothers who were late do not know where to go when they arrived because we were already at the reception.
  • One Godmother got a very funny experience. She arrived 11:30. One church staff asked her if she is going to the baptism, so she said yes. She was directed to the Baptistry area. When she got inside, she was so shocked that she doesn't know everyone and it was a different childs baptism already. She was so shy to get out of that room so she just stood there and wait until that baptism is over. So when she arrived at our reception, we were like teasing her that she went on a different baptism and then she will eat at our reception hahaha!
  • I didnt get to chat much with all of the visitors. I didn't get to talk much with Vic and Maui. with Grace and Joi and Tracy and Leah. We didn't even have a picture together. Huhuhuhu!
  • Go back to the previous picture anf look at the button pin souvenir. Yeah, I got Ashly's name mispelled huhuhu. Instead of Ashly, I mispelled it with Ahsly. FAIL!
Anyways, The Christening is still a success because first of all, Ashly is now a Christian and it is celebrated with the love of our relatives and friends...

Thank you all for the presents (diapers, milk, money, dresses)
