Perseids meteor shower visible this August | The Philippine Star News Headlines

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the famous Perseids meteor shower would be seen between Aug. 10 and 14.
“Occasionally, an exceptional shower may show tens or even hundreds of meteors per minute, but around 50 meteors per hour is more typical,” Pagasa said in its monthly astronomical diary.
Perseids will peak late at night of Aug. 12 and last until dawn the following day.
According to Pagasa, August is one of the most popular months of the year to observe meteor showers.
“The Perseids meteor shower is the most reliable one,” Pagasa said.
Pagasa pointed out that meteors are easiest to spot if the skies are clear.
The Perseids meteor shower radiates out from the constellation Perseus, which is located in the eastern horizon during August.
